Developer Archetypes
I've been trying out different AGI's with my Spectrum platform. My insight about them is that they are exactly the same as real developers! Don't look at the stats around which one is the "best programmer". There is one standout AI for development right now, but I've not finished this process.
Grok can write code, but it is in the archetype of the least informative, least communicative developer on the team. The one who knows a lot of things but gets annoyed by standups never mind actually paper work or team meetings. He's that guy.
ChatGPT 5 is terrified of actually writing code. He spends all of his time writing plans and looking for confirmation. Actually getting him to just write some god-damned code is very difficult.
Claude is wildly imperfect. He is impetuous and impulsive, but an adequate developer, but a great communicator. He is able to tell me what is going on every step of the way - and format it cleanly and informatively. He can absolutely wind me up to desperation level, but he (yes, he) is easily the best I've tried so far.
I will attempt some serious development with Gemini next.
